Mark Preus grew up in East Grand Forks, MN and in Racine, WI.  He spent a year abroad in Dresden, Germany during High School and then attended Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN. There he met his bride to be, Rebecca (Streufert).  He completed a B.A. in Latin at the University of MN while attending University Lutheran Chapel from 2002-2004.  He then attended Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN, completing his vicarage as a campus vicar at Trinity Lutheran in Norman, OK.  After graduating with an M.Div. in 2008 from CTS, he attended the University of KS in Lawrence, where he obtained an M.A. in Classics.  He was ordained August 8, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church in Wylie, TX.  During his time at Faith Lutheran in Wylie, he also taught at Faith Lutheran High School in Plano. He was installed as pastor of St. Andrew’s on September 14, 2014.

Mark and Becky met when they were teenagers and fell in love over theology and coffee and long walks.  They were married in June 2005.  Becky graduated in 2005 from Concordia Mequon with a B.A. in English.  She and Mark have been blessed with ten children, Hannah (2006), Paul (2007), John and Anastasia (2009), Christian (2011), Isaiah (2012), Andrew (2015), Kristen (2016), Abigail (2018), and Priscilla (2019).

Pr. Preus likes coffee too much, tobacco too much, and Lutheran hymns probably too much, but can you really like Lutheran hymns too much?  He loves talking about theology, religion, culture, and the daily challenges of life. He enjoys cross-country skiing and hiking, reading and writing poetry and hymns, and sampling the many delicious microbrews Laramie has to offer. He and Becky teach their children at home, and they love to talk about what they learn.  Every year the Preus family tries to retreat to the family cabin in western Ontario to meet family and drink the clean water out of pristine Gunflint Lake.
