Authentic Christ-Centered Worship, Study, and Sometimes Just Plain Silliness!

Epiphany

Epiphany follows right after Christmas and its season, beginning on January 6th. Epiphany means "showing forth." During this season we ponder the different ways in which Christ was revealed to the world as God and Savior. The first showing forth was to the Magi by means of a star which guided them to His manger. Later on Christ revealed Himself through His miracles and through His preaching. His most splendid showing forth was at His Transfiguration. On the day of Transfiguration we, with the disciples, see a glimpse of His glory just before we enter the penitential season of Lent and follow Him to the Cross. The color for the Day of the Epiphany is white while the remainder of the season is green, as it is during Pentecost. The season varies in length from one to seven Sundays depending on the date of Easter.
