The Season after Trinity
Whereas in the first half of the Church Year we focused on the life of Christ, during this season which basically comprises the whole other half of the Christian year, we focus on the "teachings" of Christ. Since nearly all of the major Christian festivals occur during the first half of the Church Year, this season is often referred to as the Non-Festival half of the year. The Trinity, or Pentecost season, is the longest one in the entire church year, being made up of anywhere from 22-27 Sundays. During this season we study various aspects of the Christian life. The color green signifies the new life and growth which we are to achieve through Christ, paralleling the new life and growth that we see around us in nature during this same time. Moreover, just as the seed of the Church was planted on Pentecost Day and continued to grow, so too are we to continue to grow in our spiritual lives from the seed planted in us through Holy Baptism.
